G R I L L S - L I D S - F R A M E S I N P V C First Plast produces a wide range of PVC grills, lids and frames available in three versions: The three versions are made in PVC antishock giving the products a remarkable elasticity and resistance to shock, ice, chemical and atmospheric agents. According to the safety norms there is a raised non-slip walking surface. Because of their esthetic appearance and functionality, grills and lids in PVC can be used in garages, workshops, squares, yards, pavements and in all general paving areas. Because of their dielectric and self-extinguishing characteristics, the frames, grilles and lids are particularly suitable for electrical installations. The products of , upergr igl i a ® upercoperchio ® are suitable for the areas where a high load resistance is required. W E L L D R A I N B O X E S A N D E X T E N S I O N S The EXTENSIONS, available in 10 cm or as the same as the PZ collecting wells but without bottom, allow a vertical sectioning, particularly useful when the pipe line is deeper than the collecting well. In 1984 the monolithic collecting wells PZ made in polypropylene material designed and presented by First made the building industry appreciate the qualities of this plastic product in comparison with concrete articles. The well is fitted with four diaphragms which can be easily removed to insert pipes sealed with silicon. PZS SIMPLEX wells are economical due to their structural simplicity and due to the fitting with predisposed cut areas on four sides for insertion of pipes without gasket. Using “Neoprene” seals expansions and settlements are taken care of and allows pipe fittings a 40% gradient. The PZD wells, available in 25x25, 30x30 and 40x40, presents interesting technical innovations: 1) Bottom discharge which avoids backwater. 2) On two opposite sides there are groove mouth pieces for pipes input and tongue mouth pieces for output. 3) On two opposite sides “Neoprene” seals can be used in order to care for expansions and settlements and to allow pipe fitting up to 40% gradient. 4) With a suitable gasket and a SCDB lid fitted with closing locking device it can be water-tight scaled. 5) They can be stacked saving stocking space. The wells and the extensions are monolithic manufactured plastic non self carrying: they become so with an adequate covering of concrete. The SEALS are used to substitute lids when well inspection is necessary and at the same time maintaining an aesthetical paving. For their alterable characteristics as regards to the traditional plate seals they are particularly useful for installation on garden lawns. To obtain a better load resistance, the casting has to be reinforced with mortar with adequate metal reinforcements connected to the interior of the seal. V = volume in litres/second to discharge H = intensity of rain in mm/hour S = surface of drainage area in m2 The simplicity of using PVC FIRST products allows the creation of drainage networks in any type of rain. If a system of evacuation is chosen for points (with traps, grilles, siphons) or for trenches (grilled channels) it is always indispensable to know exactly the volume of fallen rain water in order to plan adequate canalization. EXAMPLE: how to apply the formula for an area of 300 m2 with an average rainfall off 100 mm/h m. 10 3600 V = H x S which must be made round to 4 EXAMPLE 1: witch the SG30 grill (which has a capacity of 2,6 l/s) you get m. 10 m. 30 EXAMPLE 2: you can also start knowing the number of grills to be set up and obtain their size by the water to be drained and the capacity of the chosen grill. If, for example, you just want to set up 3 grills instead of 4you can determine their capacity by the following formula: 2,6 n = 8,33 = 3,20 picture 3 shows that it’s necessary to set SG40 grill (the smallest grill with a capacity of more than 2,77 1/s) N A = V 3 = 8,33 = 2,77 l/s H = 100 mm/h S= 300 m2 Knowing the intensity of the rain (H) and the surface to be drained (S), the volume of water to be channeled is determined (V) with the formula: 3600 V = 100x300 = 8,33 l/s m. 30 m. 10 8.33 is the volume of water to be discharged per second Having obtained the volume of water to be drained, the position of draining point is planned in the intervention area choosing between two possibilities: 1 - the model of grill well is chosen and the quantity of use is calculated 2 - the number of grill wells to be set is decided calculating which model is suited to the volume of water obtained. ® 35 The grill chosen, the diameters of the pipes and their relative gradient is determined with the help of table 1 Referring to norm UNI EN 12056-3 the capacities referring to new pipes have been reduced to take into account the partial obstruction of pipes mainly due to low gradient, and the build up of material on the walls as a consequence of transporting turbid water. Also it is not advisable to use pipes with a diameter less than 100 mm for horizontal drainage, especially in the presence of turbid waters or waters transporting waste. upergr i g l i a ® CAPAC I TY IN L I TRES/SECOND OF THE GR I L L S C A P A C I T Y i n l i t r e / s e c . ® 36 INSTALLATION: the valve is to be installed directly on waste pipes by putting it into a well in order to ease both inspection and service, respecting flow direction (indicated on the top) by installing the socket upstream. The body of the valve must be horizontal, perpendicular to the flow and with a maximum angle of 2,5 degrees in flow direction. Pipes and fittings to be used for assemblage must company with EU regulation; it is recommanded the exit size not to be smaller than entry one. SERVICE: device inspection must be performed twice a year through the control screw top. Insidevalve cleaning is carried out by removing the top. A N T I - F L O O D V A L V E ® Idrostop anti-flood valve, available in two versions – gluing or with gasket – are anti-floodingdevices which close automatically when a reflow occurs and allow a normal drainage when thereflow stops. Installation can be made in flowing-back-water drainage systems working with gravity, inside and outside buildings for public, residential, commercial, industrial application. Idrostop valve must be put on the connection between private and public sewage net.

SS ® 37 LIGHTNESS AND SAVING 1) Establish the col lection point and/or inspection point along the channel of the pipeline to be installed. considering that the collecting well is not self carrying, no less than 10-15cm of concrete is to be used around the collecting well. 2) Lay a cement bed to prepare the base of the collecting well. 4) Insert the dividers or a bell siphon and apply the grill or the lid. with the correct inclination and the fixed pipes place everything in the channel inserting the pipes in the rings and seal with silicon. 3) Cut out corresponding to the diameter of the tube to be inserted. placing an object (preferably a piece of wood) on the opposite side in order to avoid accidental breakage or damage to the diaphragm. 5) Fill the channel with cement made of fine sand so that all spaces are adequately filled in because the collecting well is not self carrying but becomes so with the adequate positioning of the cement. 6) Finish the fittings keeping the paving some milimetres higher than the cover of the collecting well. in the case of an asphalted area, put some cold asphalt near the collecting well’s edge in order to prevent the boiling bitumen to alter the aesthetic quality of the product. 1 cm.5 2 3 YES!
